I Don't Like Your Bid...

I'm not very interested in the Olympics, and don't pretend to be, but the selection of Rio de Janeiro as the host of the 2016 summer games made me notice.

It should come as no slap-in-the-face that Chicago had the least amount of votes for the final four cities hoping to play host. Without the help of Michael Phelps, the ratings were down and sports talk radio reminds us every day that we don't care about the Olympics.

Why would the IOC want to award us with hosting rights?

It would be great for an economic boost, and I have no doubts Chicago would have been a fine host, but until we begin showing respect to the Olympics, don't expect them to return the favor.

In case you haven't noticed, the USA isn't #1 in the world's eyes any longer.
